Sudha Chandran was born on September 27, 1965, in Mumbai. Although she was born and raised in Mumbai, her family roots can be traced back to Vayalur, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Her father, K.D. Chandran, formerly associated with USIS, was not only a dedicated worker but also a former actor. Chandran pursued her education, completing her B.A. from Mithibai College, Mumbai, and later obtaining an M.A. in economics.

Triumph over Adversity

At the tender age of 16, tragedy struck Chandran when she met with a grave accident in Tamil Nadu, resulting in severe injuries to her legs. After initial treatment at a local hospital, she was admitted to Vijaya Hospital in Madras. Unfortunately, gangrene had set in on her right leg, necessitating amputation. This period marked one of the toughest phases in Chandran's life. However, with the support of her family and her own resilient spirit, she overcame the ordeal. Equipped with a prosthetic Jaipur foot, she resumed her passion for dancing after a hiatus of two years.

Professional Journey

Chandran's career took off with a bang when she starred in the Telugu film Mayuri, a biopic based on her own life. This marked the beginning of her journey as an accomplished actress and Bharatanatyam dancer. Over the years, she garnered acclaim for her versatile performances, notably as Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kissii Roz, Yamini Singh, and Seema Gujral in Naagin 1, 2, 3, and 6, and as Chitradevi in Deivam Thandha Veedu, the Tamil remake of Saath Nibhana Saathiya. She further showcased her talent by participating in the reality dance series Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Personal Life

In 1994, Sudha Chandran found companionship in assistant director Ravi Dang, whom she married. Their union has been a source of strength and support for Chandran throughout her career.
