Neelam's career began unexpectedly when she was approached by director Ramesh Behl during a vacation in Mumbai. In addition to her acting pursuits, Neelam developed a keen interest in jewelry designing. After formal training in Mumbai, she established "Neelam Jewels" and opened a flagship store in 2011.
