Farah Naaz was born to Jamal Ali Hashmi and Rizwana in a Hyderabadi Muslim family. Her parents divorced soon after her birth. She grew up in a family where education was highly valued, with her mother being a schoolteacher and her maternal grandparents retired professors who ran a school. Farah is the niece of acclaimed actors Shabana Azmi, Tanvi Azmi, and Baba Azmi, and she is the elder sister of renowned actress Tabu.
Farah made her debut in the film industry in 1985 with the movie "Faasle," directed by Yash Chopra. Despite facing initial challenges, she quickly rose to fame with her exceptional performances.
